Your Therapist

The beginning of your recovery journey will begin during your intake assessment.  This session is designed to allow you the opportunity to begin to get to know your therapist and to establish your treatment goals.  The therapeutic relationship is designed to assist you in achieving your goals toward health.  Mrs. Heath utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) with a large percentage of her patients to address the negative thinking that perpetuates the ineffective behaviors, belief systems and attitudes that keep us stuck in unhealthy patterns.  You and your therapist will work toward improving the quality of your life and your relationships while you are in treatment.  You may participate in individual, family, couples, and group therapy while at Hope Counseling Center.

Mrs. Heath received her undergraduate degree in business administration from the University of Tulsa and then earned a Master's degree in Marriage & Family Therapy from Oklahoma Baptist University.  She is licensed in both Arizona and Virginia as a Licensed Professional Counselor.  Kerry is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor as well.  Mrs. Heath has treated eating disorders for over 25 years and has earned the distinction of Certified Eating Disorders Specialist and a National Certified Counselor.

Kerry Heath began her mental health career in Oklahoma in 1993 where she began treating children and their families.  She then moved to Phoenix, Arizona where she worked treating eating disorders at Remuda Ranch for nearly eight years.  She thoroughly enjoyed her time there as the Assistant Clinical Director before relocating to Virginia to start her own family.  She is married and has two beautiful children.  She had a successful private practice in the northern Virginia area until the fall of 2015 when her husband was transferred back to the greater Phoenix area.  Mrs. Heath then opened Hope Counseling of Arizona as a result of this move and is excited to be offering counseling services to the West Valley.  Mrs.  Heath also enjoys training new clinicians and offers supervision services to those seeking to become licensed in the state of Arizona. Mrs. Heath is an approved supervisor in both Arizona and Virginia.  She is  certified by the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals (IAEDP) to train and supervise professionals seeking their Certified Eating Disorders Specialist (CEDS) certification.
